The Group Fitness Coordinator is responsible for assisting with planning, implementing and managing the group fitness programs for all health and recreation facilities within On Top of the World Communities. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing all fitness-related independent contractors, to include the selection and termination of contracted fitness instructors used throughout the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists with overseeing the development of group fitness programs for all OTOW health and recreation facilities
• Auditions fitness instructors and uses independent judgment to select and contract those that best meet the needs of the health and wellness programs for members and guests
• Monitors the performance of all contracted fitness instructors and make decisions regarding their continued use by the company
• Coordinates the group fitness programs including scheduling, program development, and conducting annual evaluations of the contractors
• Coordinates the physical environment of the fitness center and assists with all applicable equipment, ensuring there is adequate supply and that it is stored safely and effectively
• Ensures equipment is safe by routinely checking equipment and taking any necessary action to correct and repair
• Assists with the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of Fitness Instructors
• May be required to provide group class instruction when necessary
• Listens to resident and member concerns and responds appropriately
• Prepares and presents group fitness updates for monthly department meetings
• Work with Fitness staff on specialty wellness seminars, workshops and/or master classes
• Works a varying schedule, to include nights, weekends, and holidays
• Performs all duties in adherence to Company standards
• Strives to maintain a safe working environment through the prevention of accidents, the preservation of equipment, and the achievement of safe working practices
• Maintains a positive and professional demeanor toward all residents, visitors and co-workers
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Technical Skills)

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• 5 years of fitness and/or personal training experience required
• Current certification required
• Current specialty certifications in older adult fitness preferred
• Current CPR/AED and first aid certifications required

Skills and Knowledge:

• Must be able to read, write and understand English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
• Well organized, ability to multi-task, efficient
• Ability to work well with the public
