    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under the supervision of the Diagnostic Outpatient Imaging (DOI) Teach Manager. The XR Technologist performs and analyze patient x-rays. The XR Technologist prepares patients, processes images, and assists physicians as needed. The XR Tech ensures proper patient preparation, verifies screening protocols, and answers questions. Collaborates with staff, executive management, physicians, and technical staff to ensure that patient care is being provided with quality and optimum patient satisfaction. This includes monitoring effectiveness based on knowledge of best practices and adheres to supervisor guidance and regulations set by regulatory agencies.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: to perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     XR TECH


    1. Collect key information from the patient, family and provider that is specific to the exam being performed.
    2. Educate patient, family or provider as to the extent and detail of the procedure.
    3. Perform technical processing duties and quality assurance on equipment as assigned.
    4. Maintain proper inventory levels of all supplies as required.
    5. Assist in training new staff.
    6. Complete diagnostic paperwork.
    7. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    8. Follows Universal Protocol at all times to ensure correct patient, correct procedure, and correct side.
    9. Provides information to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs.
    10. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing a personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
    11. Ensures operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
    12. Maintains radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; and verifying receipt of supplies.
    13. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; and advising management on needed actions.
    14. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
    15. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
    16. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
    17. Prepares patient for radiological procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into a specified position, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
    18. Minimizes radiation to patient and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
    19. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media; and administering first aid and using the emergency cart.
    20. Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures, developing radiographs, observing radiographic results, and making necessary adjustments.
    21. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
    22. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
    23. Ensures procedure charges, to include supplies used, are entered correctly and in a timely manner.
    24. Explains scanning procedures to patients and provides reassurance and support as required.
    25. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
    26. Attends meetings as required.
    27. Demonstrates a commitment to service, organization values, professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times.
    28. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with physicians, patients, visitors, supervisor, and staff.
    29. Ensures services are in compliance with professional standards, state, and federal regulatory requirements.



    Requirements

    REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES:

    5. Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
    6. Responsible for all equipment, supplies, documents, and materials related to job.
    7. Communicates all problems and questions to supervisor.
    8. Complies with all federal, state, and local regulations.
    9. Assures proper storage of all records.
    10. Ensures patient privacy and regulatory compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, labor laws, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
    11. May perform other duties as needed and required by Executive Leadership Team.

    MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. May assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the DOI Executive Leadership Team.


    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:


    1. Associates Degree or Diploma in Radiological Technology from an accredited program.
    2. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Registry eligible CMRT
    3. State licensed to work as an X-ray Technologist
    4. CPR and BLS certification
    5. Two (2) years related experience required.
    6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required, with ability to interact at all levels and be able to get along with diverse personalities.
    7. High degree of confidentiality and ethics needed.
    8. Digital Imaging skills.
    9. RIS/PACS skills.
    10. Ability to manage Radiographic equipment.
    11. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
    12. Ability to position patient and adjust equipment to produce desired or optimum image of desired anatomy.
    13. Must have analytical ability and be detailed oriented, well-organized and be able to handle multiple priorities.
    14. Must be able to work under pressure with constant interruptions.
    15. Must be able to work independently and autonomously.
    16. Must be able to make sound judgments, have excellent decision-making skills, and possess strong conflict resolution skills.
    17. Must have working knowledge of operation of personal computer and MS Office software.
    18. Must have access to vehicle and possess valid driver's license and sufficient liability insurance.
