Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of staff in a diagnostic imaging department such as nuclear medicine, MRI, radiology, computer-assisted tomography or ultrasound. Monitors the adherence to all diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and services. Being a Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor requires a bachelor's degree, certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Diagnostic Imaging Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Qualifications
Degree from Radiological Technology school as required by ARRT registration Required.
ARRT registered or registry eligible
BLS required by end of conditional period.
Responsibilities
Provides quality patient care.
Performs exams using good judgment in scanning, radiographing, and documenting anatomy/pathology.
Assists the radiologist and other physicians with interpretation of exams.
Assists the radiologists and other physicians with invasive procedures.
Transports patients to and from department or other areas within the hospital.
Performs injections of contrast material (oral, rectal, and IV) if applicable.
Monitors and cleans equipment, and reports equipment problems to the Supervisor or Imaging Director.
Works toward goal of quality improvement.
Schedules patients.
Assists in the training of new technologists and students.
