Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. We have an immediate opening for an experienced field service mechanic for work over drilling rigs.
Mechanic requirements:
- Knowledge of all Detroit 60 Series, Caterpillar C-Series and 3400 series diesel engines and also Deutz engines.
- Knowledge of Allison electronic transmissions.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electronic engines.
- Knowledge of draw works system and braking system a plus.
- Must be able to diagnose electrical and air issues.
- Must have own tools.
Minimum of 5 years experience is preferred. This is a 24 hour service company, 24 hour call every other week and some holidays.
