Diesel Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls of diesel engines. Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems. Being a Diesel Mechanic utilizes computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes. Replaces and/or refurbishes parts. Additionally, Diesel Mechanic maintains maintenance logs according to requirements. Ensures services provided follow all quality standards and safety procedures. May perform DOT annual inspections on vehicles. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically requires Commercial Driver License (CDL) - Class A. Typically requires a Certificate in Automotive & Diesel Technology. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Diesel Mechanic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     • Responsibilities:
    • Checks fluid levels on all types of Trucks
    • Changes and rotates tires, adds air and checks inflation of tires
    • Changes oil and filters
    • Performs general mechanical repairs to vehicles including trouble shooting mechanical problems and identifying their solution in an effort to correct malfunctions and reduce further breakdowns.
    • Follows PM schedules on all equipment.
    • Parks and delivers trucks
    • Keeps records of gauge readings and amounts of supplies used
    • Follows preventive maintenance servicing schedule
    • Reports any questionable damage or mechanical problems
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Completes repair of vehicles in accordance with DOT and State laws.
    • Knowledge of refrigeration maintenance and diagnostics
    • Temperature calibration of refrigeration equipment.
    • Maintains accurate records of each repair performed on all vehicles.
    • Maintains shop area by keeping tools and equipment picked up; cleaning up liquid spills; sweeping floor; dumping trash, and performing other related duties

    Required Minimum Education/Experience:

    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • 2 year's experience in servicing of automotive equipment
    • Must have a Valid Driver's License and the ability to meet all driving qualifications
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly, 75 pounds occasionally.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written as well as excellent mathematical skills required
    • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and mandatory ergonomics medical exam required.
    • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without future employment sponsorship.
    • Ability to drive a tractor trailer
