Additionally, Diet Technician typically requires Dietetic Technician - Registered (DTR). Typically reports to a dietitian. The Diet Technician works under moderate supervision. Job Summary: Utilizing department software, the Diet Office Clerk transcribes patient diet orders in a manner that facilitates accurate delivery of nutrition from kitchen to patient. Works in tandem with clinical nutrition staff to ensure that patients' specialized nutritional needs are met. Responsibilities include: obtaining and reviewing patient/ resident menus for conformance to diet order; monitor quality and accuracy of food served to patients/ residents; related to each meal service. Act as a nutrition resource for patients/ residents and staff. Maintain productivity standards and exercise effective time management to prioritize tasks. Maintain professional competency and skills required for professional practice. Act as a liaison between FNS and nursing as it relates to dietary requirements and software systems that are used to manage meal service to patients/residents. Function as the lead for all required operations of the Diet Office.
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. ServSafe Certification required or must obtain within 30 days of hire. Experience in acute care or long term care or as a diet clerk preferred. Minimum 1 year leadership experience preferred. Good communication skills, ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete simple computational skills. Knowledge of therapeutic diets. Excellent customer service skills are a must. Ability to work in a team environment. Possesses necessary skills to effectively operate hospital’s admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) system and other computer-based systems, which manage patient-care records. Must possess the ability to lead by example
