Institutes basic nutrition plans including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of required meals and supplements. Being a Diet Technician computes analysis of patients intake and calorie count results. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Diet Technician typically requires Dietetic Technician - Registered (DTR). Typically reports to a dietitian. The Diet Technician works under moderate supervision. Responsible to perform routine, usually basic laboratory testing and maintenance of laboratory equipment/systems; to review data vs. specifications and perform lab investigations as needed; and to perform basic troubleshooting of analytical methods and equipment. Leads the team of lab analysts in their day to day work.
B.S. degree in Chemistry with a basic knowledge of analytical chemistry; or a B.S. degree in a closely related field and a minimum of one year experience in a QC lab strongly desired. Meet the requirements of a safe operation and personal safety using required personal protective equipment, and safe practices. Able to wear and be properly fitted with all required safety protection attire, including but not limited to respiratory protection, safety glasses, hard hats, and safety shoes/boots. Must be clean-shaven when required to wear a tight-fitting respirator. Must pass medical qualification required for wearing a tight-fitting respirator.
