JOB SUMMARY:

The facility Dietician is a member of the management team and is responsible for the nutritional care of residents through the management of the clinical and food service systems. The facility Dietician is responsible for providing nutritional care of the highest quality to the residents. The facility Dietician reports to the Culinary Director and makes recommendations on all food service/nutrition related functions to the facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clinical
Participates in nutrition screening, assessment, care planning, discharge planning, and menu review.
Instructs a resident individually and in groups as required
Performs in-service, workshops and other educational services
Collects quality improvement data
Maintains continuing education in applicable clinical areas and pursues self development
Management
Interacts with the Culinary Director to oversee clinical parameters of the Food Service Department for conformity to diet orders, nutrition supplement policy, menus and department standards
Participates in training, in-services, team meetings and meal rounds as assigned
Interacts with other departments to ensure the flow of information through the diet office occurs consistently and accurately
Ensures compliance to company and regulatory standards
Maintains professional interactions with superiors, peers and subordinates
Leadership
Represents company and the facility with professional credibility
Communication
Communicates effectively - both verbally and written with others (i.e. client, management, residents, staff, other health care professionals)
Performs company and client reporting procedures (i.e. quality audits, monthly reports)

Ensures standards and regulatory requirements for the units are met
Maintains strong communication with medical staff and management team
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Registered Dietician
Clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
Strong time management and organizational abilities
Computer literate
Long term care experience preferred
