Dietitian, Sr. reviews physicians diagnosis and designs and implements therapeutic nutritional care plans for patients utilizing general dietetic standards and regulations. Monitors and documents patient progress and consults with physicians as needed. Being a Dietitian, Sr. educates and provides guidance to staff, patients, and families regarding diet and food plans. Administers and advises food service operations to ensure menus comply with prescribed nutritional plans. Additionally, Dietitian, Sr. may supervise less experienced dieticians. Requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Dietitian, Sr. work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. JOB SUMMARY
Provides professional dietitian services (nutritional status, needs assessment, planning, counseling and education) forindividuals and groups. Provides nutritional education to the medical and general community via educational forums andin-house nutritional educational materials.
Work requires knowledge of clinical nutrition as it relates to disease states in an acute care and/or outpatient setting,sanitation and infection control as it relates to food service delivery. Knowledge of appropriate charting, documentationand HIPAA regulations is also required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs nutritional screening on all patients, using Nutrition Assignment tool or appropriate methods perdepartment standards.
Develops, maintains, and modifies patient’s nutrition care plan per department standards.
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Completion of internship, traineeship, or coordinated undergraduateprogram with consequential qualification for dietetic registration that demonstrates attainment of the requisite jobknowledge skills/abilities required. One year experience in clinical dietetics in an acute care setting preferred.
