Digital Collection Librarian maintains a library's digital collection of books, serials, documents, audiovisuals, or other materials, and assists groups and individuals in locating, obtaining and using materials. Trains others in the creation or preservation of digital resources and the use of the library's digital system(s). Being a Digital Collection Librarian is responsible for the library's open source projects and procures licenses for digital content. Interacts with IT staff in selecting/developing, implementing and maintaining the library's technical infrastructure. Additionally, Digital Collection Librarian requires a master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited school in a related field. Typically reports to a director. The Digital Collection Librarian manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Digital Collection Librarian typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     • Performs work that requires full professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of librarianship to select, organize, preserve, access, manage, and disseminate information.
    • Provides all members of the Military Community with reference/research using text and online searching principles, reader's advisory/selective dissemination of information.
    • Performs technical services functions including acquisitions, procurement, cataloging/classification, physical processing, and accountability of materials.
    • Performs automation services including ILS maintenance, network operations, and workstation and Internet issues.
    • Supervises assigned staff. Assists chief librarian in overall management of the library.

    Qualifications

    A master's degree in library science, information services, or information management from an accredited college or university. Additionally, one (1)
    year of progressively responsible work experience is desired which showcases the ability to perform patron/public services, technical services,
    and/or library automation service functions. Must be familiar with office software products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Must
    have the ability to communicate orally and in writing.

    Education

    A master's degree in library science, information services, or information management from an accredited college or university.
