The Marketing and Communications team of the Oregon State University Foundation creates experiences, tells stories and builds communities that inspire alumni and friends to join OSU in making the world a better place and feel appreciated for the difference they make through partnerships with the university.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications Strategy, the Digital Marketing Specialist, social media, works with colleagues to plan and execute digital marketing strategies, all of which advance our goals for engaging alumni and friends of the university and stewarding and cultivating donors.
Work Location
This position will be based in Corvallis, Oregon, or Portland, Oregon, and will work out of the corresponding OSU Foundation office.

The Digital Marketing Specialist will play a role in realizing the Marketing and Communications team’s vision of creating an environment where all OSU alumni and friends are driven to connect with the university to be a part of something bigger than themselves and to advance the promise of higher education, as well as the university’s research and outreach missions. Specifically, the success of the position will be measured by the degree to which it is able to:
Major Duties
Plan, manage, and execute integrated social media campaigns, both paid and organic, including developing relevant content topics to reach target stakeholders and monitoring, listening, and responding to stakeholders.
Develop and execute strategy for email marketing, working closely with clients to develop, build and send emails and leverage new tools, processes, and best practices.
Manage the social editorial calendar across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter).
Participate in kickoff meetings for important projects, campaigns, and events to grasp the messaging, make recommendations, and create an effective and complete digital marketing strategy.
Communicate the OSU brand voice in a coherent and effective manner across all digital platforms.
Track and assess data and analytics for digital marketing to make recommendations on future projects, events and campaigns.
Strategically use marketing automation software and other technology tools across email, web, and social media to deliver timely and relevant content to key audiences.
Build digital marketing assets, coordinate distribution lists, schedule and release messages, web updates and posts.
Collaborate with Foundation leaders to ensure digital strategies are aligned with organizational priorities.
Monitor trends and technologies to identify emerging opportunities in digital marketing and respond to changes to external properties, such as social media and search algorithms.
Through collaboration with the messaging team, build and maintain a style guide for web that users across the Foundation can utilize in making consistent and on-brand web updates.
