- Full Time. Flexible schedule between Monday - Saturday 11am-9pm and Sunday 7am-4pm including holidays and special events.
Job Description
The Dining Room Supervisor assists the Dining Room Manager with maintaining an atmosphere of “fine dining”. Assists in multiple areas of dining including server assignments, daily line-up, and closing duties. Greeting residents and coordinating seating according to established guidelines. In addition, the Dining Room Supervisor is responsible for maintaining up-to-date resident meal counts, assisting residents with table reservations, accepting take-out food orders, and assisting with special event functions.
Job Duties (Essential)
- Greets residents by name and coordinates seating according to established guidelines.
- Maintains good public relations with residents and attends to resident requests, problems, comfort and needed service.
- Assist residents in making table reservations and maintains a record of reservations.
- Receives and logs take-out food orders, communicates orders to the kitchen, facilitates packaging, ensures accuracy and coordinates pick-up and/or delivery.
- Assists with the coordination and direction of dining room team members, completes seating charts, cleaning assignments, and any other direction to team members as needed.
- Assists with routine training programs in meal etiquette, serving techniques, and sanitation standards related to handling and serving food.
- In consultation with Executive Chef, facilitates a pre-service orientation for team members before each meal to discuss food being served and any special instructions.
- Ensures that routine cleaning of the dining room and service areas are completed.
- Responsible for maintaining the daily tally sheet, a record of resident and guest meals.
- Ensures that private dining parties and special event functions are properly set up, assists with service as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Assists the Dining Room Manager with the overall operation of the Dining Room.
- In the absence of the Dining Room Manager, assumes responsibility for operations of the dining room. Authority is inclusive of operational functions to include activities directly involved in the service of residents and guests throughout the dining experience. The authority does not extend to disciplinary functions, evaluations, or scheduling.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates ability to work with front of the house operations in fine dining environment to perform supervisory role in the dining experience at the community.
- Strong knowledge of food service and presentation as well as customer service and presentation.
- Knowledge of hosting and serving.
- Ability to compute basic math.
- Good communication skills and experience working with older adults and in leading team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office – word processing and spreadsheet.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as Dietary Manager preferred.
- Candidate must have at least 1 year prior supervisory experience – preferably in a dining environment
- No licensure required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing, pulling, pushing, and carrying.
- Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to taste and smell.
- Exposure to heat and cold.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
