Direct Mail Specialist manages all direct mail programs, processes, and materials to insure effective and on-time results. Oversees warehouse inventory and reorders items as needed. Being a Direct Mail Specialist works with Marketing campaign team to select and manage vendors. Tracks and evaluates direct mail program effectiveness and makes recommendations for improvements. Additionally, Direct Mail Specialist may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Direct Mail Specialist gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Primary Purpose:
The Mail Clerk is responsible for processing, sorting and distributing daily mail.
Essential Functions:
Pick up University mail from Post Office daily.
Sort incoming U.S. mail and campus mail and deliver to departments.
Sort, scan, and deliver incoming University packages using WTS Software and scanners, including sending students email notifications for package pick up.
Notify departments of incoming freight shipments to schedule delivery.
Process outgoing U.S Mail using postage machine and drop off at Post Office at the end of the day.
Process outgoing department overnights and packages USPS, UPS and FedEx using Pitney Bowes software.
Provide customer service to faculty, staff and students.
Perform job duties without supervision.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or G.E.D.
One (1) year of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year of work experience in mailroom environment.
Excellent vehicle operation skills, customer service skills, and ability to learn campus facilities/map.
Basic equipment maintenance and operation skills, knowledge of shipping procedures and postal regulations, and data entry skills.
Computer skills.
Mail sorting and postage meter machines experience.
Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work is performed in mail room/warehouse environment. May be exposed to varying temperatures. Constant standing, lifting, stretching, reaching and bending and climbing of steps and/or stairs. Ability to lift and carry up to seventy (70) pounds.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours. Willingness to work irregular hours and overtime, sometimes on short notice. Occasional travel is required.
Hiring Range: Commensurate with experience, non-exempt
