Director - Stage, Motion Pictures, Television interprets plays and scripts for production. Auditions and identifies performers for roles in specific productions and conducts rehearsals. Being a Director - Stage, Motion Pictures, Television may require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Director - Stage, Motion Pictures, Television relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. The Bloomfield Drama Club is looking for someone to direct the school musicals. Bloomfield boasts a thriving theatre program involving 20% of the middle/high school population. Multiple roles are open this year including a costumer and set designer (each is paid a stipend); it is possible to fill multiple roles if you have a passion in these areas, and your schedule allows
Stage Director’s Responsibilities include:
Attending auditions and assisting with casting the show
Running daily rehearsals with students aged 11-18
Researching the show and communicating a stylistic vision
Communicating with families
Collaborating with the Music Director, Technical Director, Costumer, Choreographer, Set Coordinator, and Producer during the shows and during preparatory periods
Coordinating the borrowing/selling of drama club items with local theatre programs
The director would be needed on the following dates and times:
Fall production:
Occasional Saturdays between 9/9-11/9 from 10:00am- 12:00pm
Weekdays 9/9- 10/10 from 3:00-5:30pm (rehearsals 3:15-5:15pm)
Weekdays 10/14- 10/25 from 3:00-5:30pm
Weekdays 10/28- 11/1 from 3:00-6:00pm
11/4-11/7 from 3:00-6:30pm
Friday 11/8 from 4:30-10:00pm
Saturday 11/9 from 11:30am-10:00pm
Spring production:
Several Saturdays between 1/11-3/15 from 10:00am-12:00pm
Weekdays 12/2-12/6 from 3:00-5:30pm
Weekdays 1/6- 2/14 from 3:00-5:30pm
Weekdays 2/24-2/28 from 3:00-6:00pm
Weekdays 3/3-3/7 from 3:00-6:45pm
3/10-3/13 from 4:30-10:00pm
Friday 3/14 from 4:30-10:00pm
Saturday 3/15 from 11:30am-10:00pm
There is some flexibility with rehearsals; things can be slightly adjusted for a highly interested candidate.
Compensation is $2,500 for the Fall show, $3,000 for the Spring show.
