    Job Summary/Responsibilities:

    WGEM, the Tri-States’ #1 news organization, seeks a News Director to lead the region’s most watched and trusted source for news. Our next News Director will lead, mentor, and develop the next generation of journalists. Our news department produces content for our primary channel WGEM-NBC, wgem.com, WGEM Digital TV Streaming App, WGEM News/Weather App, WGEM Social Media platforms, and our Illinois Capitol Bureau (Springfield, IL). WGEM also has access to the Gray Missouri & Iowa Capitol Bureaus. The News Director directly oversees our news gathering and distribution processes while controlling the development of our content and having full editorial control.

    Please note: the primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed above:

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    - The News Director is a Department Head position and part of the WGEM Executive Team
    - The News Director reports directly to the WGEM VP/General Manager
    - Previous experience working in the industry is a must, a variety of prior positions within a news organization will be considered
