Director of International Education leads and directs all aspects of the institution's international programs. Oversees programs, activities, faculty affairs, and academic support services. Being a Director of International Education develops and implements strategies to attract and retain students and faculty. Oversees the operations of the study abroad and foreign exchange programs, the international admissions process, and English language programs. Additionally, Director of International Education ensures that the curriculum remains current and is in compliance with accreditation standards. Monitors the documentation and visa application processes. Oversees the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the year. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Director of International Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.       Assistant Director of Special Education

      SUMMARY:
      The Assistant Director of Special Education assists the director in providing vision and leadership based on a foundation of performance excellence to direct the service delivery for the district's special education. The Assistant Director works in collaboration with all district departments and services with a focus on delivering value and results. Along with assisting the Director with administering and interpreting all local, state and federal statutes, rules and policies and administrative directors pertaining to programs for exceptional students.

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Assists with planning, implementing and monitoring all district services and programs for students with disabilities focusing on improved student outcomes and success.
      • Assists with providing vision and leadership to support student achievement and effective services by identifying best practices, developing and implementing strategic improvement plans, determining professional development areas and supporting achievement plans.
      • Assists the Director of Special Education by working with the building principals to ensure appropriate programming.
      • In conjunction with the district legal council and the executive team, assists with providing direction on resolution of disputes, complaints and due process.
      • Assists the Director with interpreting and administering local, state and federal policies, statutes, rules, and administrative directives pertaining to services for students with disabilities while adhering to a high standard of ethics and transparency.
      • Assists with planning and submitting the special education budget and applications for state and federal funds.
      • Works collaboratively with the Department of Data and Assessment, collect, analyze data, and prepare reports required by local, state and federal authorities.
      • Assists the Director in making decisions on staff allocations and personnel recommendations in conjunction with the business services department.
      • Assists the Director in analyzing the professional development needs of Special Education staff in accordance with best practices.
      • Assists the Director in ensuring effective supervision of selected Special Service Providers in accordance with district policy.
      • Any other duties of a related nature which might reasonably be allocated and required in the areas of special education services.

      Supervision & Technical Responsibilities: Assists the Director with supervising staff as determined by the Executive Team. Supervisory responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring and training employees, promoting and transferring employees; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating; discipling and recommending dismissal of employees; and managing budgets.

      Budget Responsibility:In collaboration with the Executive Team, develop, administer, monitor, and coordinate the assigned budgets.

      Education & Training:

      • Master's degree in Special Education or related field plus additional coursework required for certification or licensure.

      Experience:

      • Five (3) years of experience in special education and school administration.
      • Previous experience in or district leadership related to special education strongly preferred.
      • Experience with policy and procedure, curriculum, accounting, evaluation, and negotiation.

      Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations:

      • Criminal background check required for hire
      • Valid Colorado driver's license required for hire
      • Director of Special Education Administrators License or eligibility at the time of hire required.
