Director of International Education leads and directs all aspects of the institution's international programs. Oversees programs, activities, faculty affairs, and academic support services. Being a Director of International Education develops and implements strategies to attract and retain students and faculty. Oversees the operations of the study abroad and foreign exchange programs, the international admissions process, and English language programs. Additionally, Director of International Education ensures that the curriculum remains current and is in compliance with accreditation standards. Monitors the documentation and visa application processes. Oversees the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the year. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Director of International Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Director of the International Office oversees all aspects of the study abroad program and supports staff in international student advising and international student/scholar services (ISSS). The Director maintains expertise in student advising best practice, resource stewardship, internal database systems, and study abroad engagement, outreach, and equitable access; and, if appropriate for level of experience, serves as PDSO/RO for the University’s F and J visa programs, liaises with University-retained counsel for H-I and PERM applications, and acts as primary contact with officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of State (DOS) and related agencies (SEVP, USCIS). The Director is required to stay current on changing regulations and federal policies affecting international services and supervise ISSS staff. This position may be required to travel to conduct periodic site visits and to attend, facilitate, and/or present at meetings or conferences domestically and internationally. Some evening and weekend hours to lead events will be required. Per federal regulations, the candidate must be a US citizen or US lawful permanent resident.
