Director of International Education leads and directs all aspects of the institution's international programs. Oversees programs, activities, faculty affairs, and academic support services. Being a Director of International Education develops and implements strategies to attract and retain students and faculty. Oversees the operations of the study abroad and foreign exchange programs, the international admissions process, and English language programs. Additionally, Director of International Education ensures that the curriculum remains current and is in compliance with accreditation standards. Monitors the documentation and visa application processes. Oversees the departmental budget and management of expenditures throughout the year. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Director of International Education typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity.     The International Admissions Coordinator is a full-time position within the Office of Global Education. The Coordinator plays a critical role in facilitating the admission process for international students seeking enrollment at Marywood University. This position involves counseling prospective international students on immigration regulations and requirements for F-1/J-1 status, assessing the qualifications of prospective international students, guiding them through the application process, and ensuring they meet the necessary admission requirements.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

    • As a direct report to the Associate Provost for Global Education, assists in related tasks and is supportive of all responsibilities in this area.
    • Provides comprehensive guidance to prospective international students regarding admission requirements, application procedures, and necessary documentation.
    • Assists applicants in preparing and submitting required application materials, such as transcripts, test scores, and visa documentation.
    • Communicates with prospective international students and their families addressing their inquiries via email, or in-person/virtual meetings.
    • Evaluates international student applications to determine eligibility for admission.
    • Collaborates with academic departments and admissions committees to assess applicants' academic credentials and program suitability.
    • Reviews, processes, and evaluates applications and transcripts for admission and academic scholarship recommendations.
    • Maintains accurate records of application statuses and communicates admission decisions to applicants.
    • Works collaboratives with the Office of Admissions on proper recruitment, onboarding, and retaining international students.
    • Works with the current international student population in an effort to improve recruitment procedures.
    • Serving as Designated School Official for the Student and Exchange Visitors Information Program (SEVP).
    • Manages the reporting and documentation process of issuing visas as required by the United States Department of Homeland Security.
    • Assists international students in understanding visa requirements and immigration procedures.
    • Provide guidance on visa application processes and support students in obtaining necessary visas for study.
    • Develops and implements an international student recruitment plan, which includes maintaining and establishing relationships with agents to grow the international applicant pool.
    • Promotes diversity and inclusivity on campus by fostering a welcoming environment for international students and offers cultural orientation and resources to help international students adjust to a new academic and cultural environment.
    • Collaborates with various campus departments, including academic advisors, financial aid, and housing, to provide seamless support to international students.
    • Prepare reports on international student enrollment, application statistics, and trends for institutional planning purposes.
    • Represents the University, collaborating with government liaisons and speaking to school officials.
    • Provides students, clients, partners, and co-workers with the highest level of service excellence and professionalism to enhance retention and provide growth for the department.
    • Drives department vehicles when necessary.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field; A Master’s degree may be preferred.
    • 2 years of experience working in international education, student services, academic advising, international engagement, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of international educational systems and credentials; experience in higher education and/or cross-cultural programming, advising, or counseling
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage application records and documentation.
    • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to foster a welcoming atmosphere for international students.
    • Experience in admissions is an asset.
    • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
    • Available to work flexible day, evening, and weekend hours
    • Strong technology skills and ability to utilize software to provide effective student service
    • Must be detail-oriented with strong customer/client service skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively, able to work independently with minimal supervision; and, able to work on various large projects simultaneously. Strong administrative skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • A Master’s degree in an area such as intercultural communication, foreign languages, education, international higher education, higher education experience, international relations, global studies, or related fields
    • Knowledge of international education systems, visas, and immigration regulations
    • 2 years of experience as a DSO or Visa-related international student services
    • Proficiency in foreign languages is a plus.

    Physical Demands

    • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
    • Ability to occasionally sit for long periods of time.
    • Drive a university van for study abroad programming purposes
