DISABILITY SERVICES COORDINATOR
Highland Community College invites applications for a full-time Coordinator, Disability Services. This position will determine program eligibility for services based on documentation of a disability. The coordinator provides services directly to students or acting on behalf of students with members of the campus community. This position works closely with students, faculty and staff to facilitate and clearly communicate information related to accommodative services and the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, policies, procedures and new services. Will liaise with state and community agencies to assist in providing necessary accommodations. Must maintain current information of laws and regulations as they relate to ADA and research, and recommend and instruct on the use of adaptive equipment and software. The coordinator will be expected to gain and apply knowledge of higher education programs, policies and procedures.
Bachelor’s degree in special education, learning disabilities, psychology, adult education or related field required. Master’s degree and two (2) years experience with adult or post-secondary disabled students preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the required knowledge and skills will also be considered. This position requires a criminal background check.
