Disaster Recovery Analyst implements and supports the policies, procedures, and programs that ensure the recovery, security, and integrity of company data, databases, information systems, and technology in the event of a disruption or unanticipated disaster. Performs risk management analysis and documents disaster recovery plans. Develops and executes testing processes to validate the disaster recovery plans and identify the plans' weaknesses and failure points.     The Opportunity

    This role is responsible for regional delivery, management, governance, operation, and continual improvement of service continuity processes and activities to ensure that QBE has appropriate recovery provision and plans in place in the event that IT service recovery is triggered and put in to action.

    This role is also responsible for management of IT DR assurance within the region, including planning and executing disaster recovery exercises with strategic partners and internal teams. You will ensure recovery of all business-critical applications within their respective RTO and RPO objectives.

    You will manage all service continuity risk in-line with company policies, ensuring adherence to defined standards that meets the technology and business requirements. On a day-to-day basis, you will ensure that projects for new or enhanced services have adequate provision for disaster recovery, and to keep ahead of new technologies, techniques, and methods for resilience.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Foundational
    • Deployment and execution of the ITSCM strategy within the region to ensure that all business IT applications are protected in the event of disruption and business continuity protected
    • Manage regional DR assurance ensuring plans are created and maintained to meet the business and infrastructure requirements for RTO and RPO
    • Ensure alignment of processes and documentation with regulatory requirement, policies, and control standards
    • Deliver regular exercising to assess the effectiveness of processes and plans, and communicate results and improvements to stakeholders and relevant governance forums
    • Drive continuous improvement through Plan, Do, Check, Act
    • Engage and support transition and transformation activities and promote new ways of working initiatives
    • Act as the first line of support and DR authority on behalf of the region; leading the recovery plan in the event of invocation
    • Ability to demonstrate a calm demeanor when working in a high-pressured situation in the event of a disaster
    • Able to establish collaborative working relationships within cross matrix organization
    • Senior level IT service continuity and resiliency background in a multi-national enterprise sized environment
    • Proficient in risk management processes and experience in effectively leading, monitoring and mitigating risk within a formal framework
    Risk Excellence / Governance
    • Governance of service partners, assuring compliance in alignment with contract obligations
    • Ensure all regional risks, issues, actions are managed in line with company and regulatory standards
    • Management and reporting of regional IT DR KPI and KRI
    Required Education
    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

    Required Experience
    7 years relevant experience

    Preferred Competencies/Skills
    • IT Service Continuity Management (ITSCM) delivery within a regulated industry
    • Management Framework experience in the Service Operations function (Event, Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Capacity, ITSCM and CSI)
    • Experienced in applying IT Service Continuity Management processes and practices in a service orientated environment
    • Passionate about closely integrating an IT service continuity within a wider resilience function
    • Demonstrating excellent communication skills with empathy, diplomacy, and inclusion
    • Strong understanding of contemporary IT trends and technologies
    Preferred Education Specifics
    Degree in computer science

    Preferred Experience
    Experience of working with multi-vendor outsourced offshore suppliers is essential
    Generic IT background and experience
    Good experience with VM recovery tools, backup/archiving techniques, high availability and physical server recovery
    Demonstrable experience in working directly with outsourcers, business owners and IT teams and in driving these to meet stated objectives
    Creation of short- and medium-term disaster recovery support strategy
    Experienced in the delivery of multiple DR projects; overseeing all aspects of the project, including planning, resource allocation, design and execution.

    *Provide support for the major incident process, directing as required the technical response in a recovery invocation, and ensure the support staff and vendors are focused on the appropriate sequence and priority actions.

    Ways of Working
    • Provide consultancy and challenge to all new projects ensuring appropriate level of DR consideration, planning and action throughout the lifecycle
    • Manage relationship with BIA business contacts/leads. Educate and support contacts with all DR related matters and point of contact during testing or actual disaster scenarios
    • Build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships to understand priorities, monitor service delivery and recommend continuous improvement opportunities for recovery
    • Collaborate with BCP teams and business contacts as required. Develop and negotiate on business criticality requests versus infrastructure capability and provisions
    • Manage an awareness campaign to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice
    • Engage with senior key stakeholders, maintain regular communication providing regular information on activities and progress.
    • Engage with Operational Resilience, Business Continuity and Risk Management Teams to support ongoing companywide resilience activities.
    Preferred Licenses/Certifications
    Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)

    Preferred Knowledge
    • A strong knowledge of relevant legislation and specific understanding of insurance regulation
    • Familiarization of APRA Standard CPS 232
    • Knowledge of global financial sector regulations
    • Good working knowledge of ISO22301 principles and related good practice and standards
    • Minimum ITIL V3 Foundation
    • Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI)
    • Cloud Computing Services availability strategies
    • Sound understanding of cloud computing, technology operations, infrastructure, and architecture
