Disaster Recovery Director leads the development of a comprehensive business continuity strategy and programs, plans, and toolsets that support response, develop resiliency, and enable recovery from events that disrupt business operations. Establishes a framework and methodology to manage all business continuity life cycle activities, including risk assessment, business impact analysis, strategy development, implementation, testing and review, plan maintenance and updates. Being a Disaster Recovery Director leads periodic review, validation, and workflow testing of documented business continuity plans. Develops and implements organization-wide training and communications. Additionally, Disaster Recovery Director supports internal audits and regulatory exams of compliance with required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require the Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar BCP certification. Typically reports to top management. The Disaster Recovery Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Disaster Recovery Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary:

    As the Recycling Center Operations Manager, you will be in charge of overseeing recycling and post-collection activities and leading the team responsible for the center's efficient operation. You will collaborate continuously with the General Manager and other unit managers, developing and executing marketing strategies aligned with the overall operational plan. Additionally, the Operations Manager ensures compliance with safety standards, monitors recycling contracts and permits, and drives process improvements for operational growth and resilience.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Lead and oversee all recycling and post-collection operations at a Materials Recycling Facility, providing management oversight to staff.
    • Manage staff, including hiring, training, coaching, and resolving safety issues and claims
    • Execute plans aligned with the business unit's strategy, focusing on customer experience, growth, and profitability.
    • Drive operational plans to meet or exceed budget and strategic goals, ensuring customer satisfaction and service objectives are met.
    • Lead all matters related to recycling and post-collection operations to ensure overall operations meet safety, compliance, and P & L objectives.
    • Monitor and maintain recycling contracts and permit compliance, implementing technology to improve efficiency.
    • Coordinate the production of commodities with inbound volume and material type; adjust resources to market and seasonal conditions.
    • Collaborate with the General Manager to develop sales strategies for local and national markets, monitoring regulations and market trends for new recycling opportunities.
    • Oversee safety programs to prevent accidents and injuries, maintaining a safe work environment.
    • Ensure compliance with environmental, regulatory, safety, and ethical standards. Approve expenses and manage budget for the operations department including approval of purchase orders and vendor pricing.
    • Foster a positive workplace culture, manage performance, and develop talent.
    • Cultivate strong relationships with government, community, and local partners.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred (Mechanical engineering a plus) or the equivalent of a combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
    • Desired: 3 years of experience as a manager or supervisor in a materials recovery facility, landfill, transportation, logistics, or other solid waste operations.
    • Experience implementing safety (OSHA) programs and equipment specifications.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and able to direct a large staff.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of integrated waste management; other state and federal laws about waste management, and contract administration.
    • Must possess excellent computer skills, intermediate-level Microsoft Office applications, and be able to operate various other software applications.
    • Ability to problem solving, analytical, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
    • Is collaborative; builds and works with teams.
    • Experience working in a unionized workforce.
    • Principles and practices of supervision, discipline, leadership, mentoring, and training.

    • Office, post-collection solid waste facilities, and outdoor environment

    Environmental and Hazardous Conditions:

    • Exposure to extreme weather conditions is possible.
    • May be exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
    • May regularly be exposed to such conditions as unpleasant odors, diesel exhaust, hazardous materials, and hazards from moving vehicles and equipment.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to move around the facility, including walking, standing, and occasional lifting.

    Additional Information:

    • Salary Range: $135,000 - $140,000 annual salary
    • Schedule: Monday - Friday
