Disaster Recovery Director leads the development of a comprehensive business continuity strategy and programs, plans, and toolsets that support response, develop resiliency, and enable recovery from events that disrupt business operations. Establishes a framework and methodology to manage all business continuity life cycle activities, including risk assessment, business impact analysis, strategy development, implementation, testing and review, plan maintenance and updates. Being a Disaster Recovery Director leads periodic review, validation, and workflow testing of documented business continuity plans. Develops and implements organization-wide training and communications. Additionally, Disaster Recovery Director supports internal audits and regulatory exams of compliance with required regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require the Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar BCP certification. Typically reports to top management. The Disaster Recovery Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Disaster Recovery Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     The American Red Cross is seeking a temporary Disaster Mental Health (DMH) Service Associate (SA) to support our disaster recovery efforts in Florida. The position is based in Gainesville with required travel in a 3-4 hour radius.

    Salary: $1,500/week. No benefits.

    This position is a temporary assignment expected to last 3-6 months. It requires a 40-hour work week which is conducted over an 8-hours per day, 5-days per week period. Weekend availability may be required. The position also requires periodic overnight on-call.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

    The Disaster Mental Health (DMH) Service Associate (SA) provides a range of mental and behavioral health support to individuals, families, and American Red Cross staff, who have been impacted by a disaster.

    This temporary position is headquartered in the Gainesville, FL area and involves a team itinerating to multiple Florida counties throughout the state, including Citrus, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Hernando, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Lafayette, Leon, Levy, Madison, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota, Suwannee, Taylor, Wakulla, etc., where our clients are located in non-congregate settings such as hotels or other service delivery sites. Transportation (i.e., rental cars) will be available for the employee's use within these areas during work hours.

    The American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health program is a supportive care model provided in a community setting to address the psychosocial and emotional needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster and the Red Cross staff caring for those individuals and families. The program is unique in that it allows mental health professionals to use their skills in assessment, care, teaching, coaching, and coordinating recovery to promote and achieve an optimal level of mental health for a client after disaster and for the staff working with the clients. Disaster Mental Health workers promote client independence and resiliency.

    • Support the emotional health of individuals, families, communities, and Red Cross staff through the use of disaster mental health interventions, predominantly Psychological First Aid.

    • Assist in developing partnerships with local mental health agencies and community-based organizations to facilitate effective client referrals.

    • Facilitate long-term recovery for clients by providing disaster mental health support and connection to local resources.

    • Be available to provide disaster mental health support to staff as necessary.

    WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

    • Education: Master's degree in a mental health profession; and

    • Hold a current, unencumbered license in the State of Florida as a social worker, psychologist, professional counselor, marriage and family therapist, psychiatric nurse, or psychiatrist.

    • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical mental health setting or equivalent combination of education and related experience required; experience in community mental health a plus.

    Training: Red Cross Disaster Health Services and other Red Cross associated training will be provided on the job

    Travel: Travel is required. A current, valid driver's license with good driving record is required.

    Physical requirements may include the ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to long, irregular hours, and frequent schedule changes are required.
