Disaster Recovery Manager manages the design, implementation, and communication of business continuance and disaster recovery plans and processes that ensure the security and integrity of company data, databases, information systems, and technology. Conducts risk analysis to identify critical operations and systems that are core to continued business operations in the event of a disruption. Being an Disaster Recovery Manager monitors and tests the plans and back up systems. Manages the contracts with required vendors for off-site and other resources required for business continuation and recovery. Additionally, Disaster Recovery Manager develops and deploys training, documentation, and communication of disaster procedures to the organization. Develops service level recovery standards and agreements with vendors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Disaster Recovery Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. The American Red Cross (ARC) operates one AmeriCorps program in New York State: The American Red Cross Disaster Resiliency Corps (ARCDRC). The primary goal of the ARCDRC is to increase individual and community disaster resiliency by educating individuals and groups across the State of New York on the importance of disaster preparedness. The ARCDRC also seeks to build disaster preparedness and response capacity by assisting in the recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers; and assist the ARC with its own disaster response preparedness by helping to plan and develop supply, storage, distribution, shelter, and other efforts that will enable to the ARC to effectively respond to any emergency.
AmeriCorps members serving in the ARCDRC will focus on providing disaster preparedness education and training to New York State communities through established ARC educational programs. The disaster preparedness educational programs we offer are designed to educate New York Citizens of all ages on how to effectively prepare program participants for emergencies. AmeriCorps members serving in the ARCDRC program will also have the opportunity to respond to disasters within New York State communities. Finally, AmeriCorps members serving in our program will be given the opportunity to learn more about and become directly involved with various other core Disasters Cycle Services operations such as Disaster Response, Mass Care, Disaster Workforce Engagement, Logistics, Information / Planning, and Individual Disaster Care, and other disaster activities to ensure the Red Cross is able to effectively respond to disasters.
