Disaster Recovery Manager manages the design, implementation, and communication of business continuance and disaster recovery plans and processes that ensure the security and integrity of company data, databases, information systems, and technology. Conducts risk analysis to identify critical operations and systems that are core to continued business operations in the event of a disruption. Being an Disaster Recovery Manager monitors and tests the plans and back up systems. Manages the contracts with required vendors for off-site and other resources required for business continuation and recovery. Additionally, Disaster Recovery Manager develops and deploys training, documentation, and communication of disaster procedures to the organization. Develops service level recovery standards and agreements with vendors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Disaster Recovery Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Disaster Recovery Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Overview

     

    The Disaster Recovery Analyst focuses on enabling the IT Disaster Recovery process by providing expertise in D/R concepts, plan authoring, validation and testing of critical systems.  The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have prior experience in a role focused on Disaster Recovery, proven experience leading recovery simulation exercises and a willingness to develop.  Experience in planning for recovery from a Cyber attack is also beneficial.  

    Specialized Skills and Technologies

     

    • Subject matter expertise in IT Disaster Recovery with a minimum of 3 years of Disaster Recovery experience
    • 3 years of experience in an Information Technology discipline
    • 3 years of experience with developing / testing recovering strategies for on-premise, cloud (IaaS / SaaS) based applications 
    • Working knowledge of recovery tools such as SRM and Zerto
    • Strong project manager skills with 3 years of hands-on experience
    • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 22301, FFIEC guidelines, NIST SP 800-34 and ITIL
    • Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP)
    • Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer (CDRE)
    • Member of Business Continuity Institute (MBCI)
    • Understanding of Ransomware recovery and architectural of Isolated Recovery Environments
    • Experience developing business impact analysis documents
    • Strategic mindset to lead recovery strategy planning efforts
    • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex integrated disaster recovery exercises
    • Thorough knowledge of data management in order to assist in the preparation of recovery procedures 
    • Strong ability in building effective relationships with clients and colleagues
       

    Primary Responsibilities

     

    • The primary responsibility is to formulate, test and maintain D/R plans for technical systems.
    • Coordinates with various information technology and business groups to identify critical systems and dependencies, and the potential vulnerabilities and risks that could result in catastrophic impact.
    • Play a supporting role in tabletop exercises or actual catastrophic disaster recovery or business continuity events.
    • Champion D/R plan & maintenance awareness across IT and business partners
    • Gather, analyze and interpret gathered data 
    • Submit reports to the relevant department heads and management 
    • Find patterns and trends in the analyzed data 
    • Formulate procedural documentation as required 
    • Track and reconcile data  
    • Define, track and monitor KPIs  
    • Develops consultative partnerships with internal teams and leaders to understand their strategic objectives, key performance indicators and reporting requirements. 
    • Supports communications, meetings, and other collaborations as appropriate to effectively perform work and to understand, resolve, and/or mitigate risks, issues, obstacles, and conflicts 
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance overall delivery of reporting across the business units and within the department. 
    • Establish and collect KPI to measure business value delivered by projects and solutions. 
    • Analyze and interpret information for planning and control purposes.  
    • Present to leadership recommendations on opportunities  
    • Lead the education and training of end users, working to increase end user proficiency and adoption of implemented solutions Understand, communicate and reinforce standard process concepts and methodology within the ETP organization 
    • Serve as liaison across teams 
    • Develop opportunities to automate ETP processes and functions 
    • Communicate systems and procedural changes to end users through excellent written and oral communications 
    • Monitor, coordinate metrics and act on exceptions to address issue
    • Preferred ITIL v3 foundation certification  
    • Experience in Support and Incident, Problem, Event and Change Management 
    • Understanding of data center operations and the interaction between the teams that support the systems and network Infrastructure 
    • Exposure with Enterprise Monitoring tools, Microsoft SCOM, SolarWInds, SquaredUP, Automated Escalation software.  
    • Exposure to Incident Command System (ICS) / National Incident Management System (NIMS) concepts with special focus on Incident Commander responsibilities 
    • A mix of Infrastructure skills across server, database, network and support desk 
    • Thorough understanding of data center operations and the interaction between the teams that support the systems and network Infrastructure 
    • Expertise in problem management, root cause analysis methodologies and incident resolution 
    • Experience with APM (Application Performance Monitoring) and other Monitoring Solution tools. 
    • Experience in an Operations Control Center   
    • Experience supporting server operating systems or hardware 
    • Experience with infrastructure theories, principals and concepts 

    Preferred Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Services, Engineering or related field

    Minimum Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
    • Demonstrated experience within the disaster recovery field
    • 3 years of experience with Disaster Recovery Planning Software and tools
    • 3 years of experience in Infrastructure domain either deploying or administering equipment and/or software
    • Experience with Office 365, Teams and SharePoint
    • Strong Visio, technical writing, and project management skills
    • Exposure / Experience working with FusionRM and/or ServiceNow BCM
    • Strong business acumen 
    • Can analyze an issue and troubleshoot 
    • Proficient change management skills 
    • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence across organizations. 
    • Must be self-directed, autonomous, and yet be able to work well with multiple individuals at all levels of the organization 
    • Strong planning and organizational skills to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. 
    • Able to lead meetings and coordinate activities to keep teams on task 
    • Good time management skills (i.e. setting priorities)
