DESCRIPTION OF THE ROLE:
The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for providing administrative support to the Transportation Supervisor. This position is responsible for managing the daily functions of the Transportation front office. Position will ensure the administrative needs of the department are met in an efficient and timely manner. The individual holding this position will also serve as a stand-by bus driver and will be assigned to routes, as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED with two (2) or more years of office experience preferred.
- Previous school transportation experience preferred, but not required.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
- Provide high quality customer service to students, staff, and families.
- Experience using Google Suite
- Excellent computer skills
- Highly flexible with good attendance
- Maintain a professional manner at all times; use tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Analyze complex situations and find effective solutions.
- Highly efficient communication both orally and written.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Work independently with little or no direction
- Detail oriented, accurate, organized, and accountable

- Able to work 6:00 – 9:00 am and 2:00 – 5:00 pm; all student days as well as dispatching during summer school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets employees and visitors to the office while maintain a positive and professional attitude; uses proper business etiquette to answer phone calls and emails; responds to presenting needs and provides appropriate responses and referrals.
- Assists in all aspects of routing using the current routing software program; update, print and distribute routes on a daily basis.
- Communicate and assist with drivers daily.
- Respond to bus drivers’ radio communication and requests.
- Responsible for all aspects of field/athletic trips
- Inputs data for billing purposes daily
- Assists drivers in the management of student discipline.
- CDL Certified Sub Driver; available to sub as needed on bus routes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job includes close vision and ability to adjust focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.

SALARY: $16.42 - $17.05 based on experience
