Salary - $30.05 - $40.38 HourlySummaryUnder general supervision, responsible for coordinating and overseeing the routed dispatch office and its functions to ensure safe and reliable service throughout the service area.
Essential DutiesResponsible and accountable for the efficient and cost effective performance of activities related to dispatching transit operators, including driver and vehicle assignments, troubleshooting questions about vehicle performance, accidents, vehicle breakdowns and emergencies.
Maintains radio contact with transit fleet and provides information to drivers regarding transit routes and schedules; monitors on-time performance of coaches;
monitors daily operations and related activities as assigned.Uses specialized scheduling and vehicle monitoring software to ensure necessary data is collected and transmitted to customers and other internal departments.
Assigns scheduled operators to vehicles and routes; makes last-minute / emergent schedule changes as necessary and in accordance with the contract;
ensures assigned vehicles meet the needs of the assigned route; makes adjustments to operator work schedules, vehicles and routes as customer needs change.
answers telephone, radio communications and counter activities.May perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh school graduation / GED and one year of experience in a transit or transportation operations function including public contact.
Must be capable of operating any Kitsap Transit vehicle. One year of experience in a dispatch environment and / or experience in assigning different types of vehicles as day-to-day operational needs vary is preferred.
