Dispatcher, Sr. coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher, Sr. records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher, Sr. requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will efficiently schedules loads, dispatch drivers, monitor/ record shipments for delivery/pickup, and reconcile drivers’ paperwork. Works to control and diminish costs by securing back haul loads. Professionally communicates with customers and drivers. If you have have experience in shipping, receiving, fleet management, and transportation planning and are skilled in data entry, analysis, and possess knowledge of transportation management systems, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule shipments and deliveries securing backhaul loads with numerous brokers.
- Utilize transportation management systems for optimal routing with experience with McLeod software is a plus.
- Enter containers in GoPort Notification Center, pull gate codes & return codes for containers, and track and update LFD for containers that have arrived.
- Oversee drivers, approve weekly payroll for drivers, approve drivers' PTO.
- Communicate with drivers, customers, and internal teams effectively
Experience:
- Prior experience in dispatching or related field preferred
- Familiarity with McLeod software
- Knowledge of supply chain logistics and transportation planning
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
