We perform engineering specification design/development and the construction of large utility infrastructure projects in the electricity, telephone, oil & gas, water, sewer, storm drain markets. We are headquartered in Los Angeles with business units in LA, Riverside, and Ventura performing work throughout California.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Dispatcher in our Doty Bros. business unit located in Norwalk, CA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Responsible for the tasks of coordinating and dispatching crews, equipment, third parties and bare rentals to job sites.
- Maintains Crew Count Reports and submits to management.
- Responsible for Rental Report, Daily Yard Walk, and Missing Equipment Report.
- Responds to calls from the field requesting that sub-contractors, equipment or materials be organized and dispatched to job site.
- Creates and maintains dispatch requests, PO’s and tracking methods for record keeping.
- Responsible for ensuring equipment is charged accurately in the Spectrum accounting system.
- Maintains dispatch area in a clean and organized manner.
- Follow all requirements of the company safety program.
- Take personal responsibility for safety in working environment.
- Promote safety among peers, subordinates and supervisors
- Perform additional assignments and assume additional responsibilities as directed by the Equipment & Facility Manager.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- A high school diploma required.
- Typically possesses at least 2 years of experience working as construction related discipline
or administrative experience.
- Previous experience as a construction dispatcher is a plus. If not, we will train
SKILLS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Proficiency in Excel is highly preferred.
- Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of safety precautions and procedures relating to dispatch matters.
- Working knowledge of MS software for record keeping.
- Complies with and maintains company confidentiality practices and policies.
- Interacts professionally with all company employees and outside persons.
- Able to stand for long periods of time, use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects.
- Able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Working conditions consists of temperature-controlled buildings or offices, outside elements such as rain, cold, and heat when working with in open environments, driving from various locations or attending meetings, etc. Noise levels are moderate to loud depending on work location.
