Dispatcher, Sr. coordinates drivers and vehicles to convey freight or passengers to assigned destinations in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions and relay delivery status to customers. Being a Dispatcher, Sr. records driver assignments, delivery time, and other transportation data in a computer database to track metrics. Ensures drivers are compliant with all DOT, state, local, and company regulations. Additionally, Dispatcher, Sr. requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Dispatcher, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Financially stable, well established company is seeking a Dispatcher to join their team.
Hours for the Dispatcher are 2nd/3rd shift 5:00pm to 5:00am, rotating schedule with overtime.
Rate of Pay is $19.00 TO $20.00 per hour with an additional $1.50 per hour night differential.
Essential Functions for the Dispatcher Include:
- Scheduling drivers to make freight deliveries
- Communicating with customer service representatives about freight details, delivery or pickup times, and special handling requests.
- Planning pre-determined routes and accommodating route changes as needed.
- Maintaining records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times.
- Keeping track of transportation regulations and laws to ensure that truck drivers comply.
- Reviewing driver logs, including dispatched calls and arrival times.
- Monitoring truck repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Logging customer shipping schedules and complaints.
Minimum Required Qualifications for the Dispatcher Include:
- Must be customer service oriented. A
- Able to communication in a clear and concise manner both verbally and written.
- Previous dispatch experience is preferred.
- Must have good problem solving skills and able to make decisions.
