Distance Learning and Education Director manages administrative functions of the distance learning program. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Distance Learning and Education Director leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Distance Learning and Education Director requires an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Distance Learning and Education Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • Summary:

    Effectively operates and manages all curriculum, education, and Conscious Discipline strategies for the center. Supports the center director with human resources, customer relations, marketing, educational programs, financial responsibility, and physical facility. Promotes a positive image of the program within the community and establishes strong working relationships with state licensing authorities, local and county health departments, and other regulatory agencies.

    Primary duties and Responsibilities:

    Understands and complies with all Ivy Kids Brand standards & Texas Minimum Standards

    Education

    • Ensures that each class has the appropriate lesson plan for the week. Review each teacher’s plans for developmentally appropriate practices and provide feedback to each classroom teacher prior to the implementation of the lesson plan. Meets with teachers monthly.
    • Ensures that the Multi Prep (Ivy Kids curriculum) curriculum is implemented accurately. Trains and coaches teachers on the Multi Prep curriculum
    • Ensure classroom schedules are followed.
    • Ensures that all teachers (especially infants and toddlers) are trained in understanding the developmental domains and developmental milestones for the different age bands.
    • Ensures that Conscious Discipline is implemented in all classrooms by all teachers. Trains and coaches teachers on Conscious Discipline techniques and practices.
    • Ensures that student assessments and ASQs are conducted on a timely basis. Communicates ASQ and student assessments to parents (especially where interventions and adaptations are required)
    • Conducts quarterly classroom observations using the Ivy Kids curriculum QA tools. The director of education is responsible for all classroom curriculum and education compliance required by: a) Ivy Kids brand standards, b) Cognia, c) TRS, and d) childcare regulatory bodies.
    • Posts evidence of learning on the center’s social media account (minimum weekly)
    • Schedules, assists, and coaches teachers on bi-annual parent/teacher conferences
    • Ensures all teachers are trained in implementing the Ivy Kids summer camp curriculum
    • Ensures that all classrooms have the appropriate resources for high-quality curriculum delivery.
    • Ensures that all staff know and comply with Texas Minimum Standards.
    • Works with the management team on student transitions and appropriate class placements.
    • Completes all required paperwork and record-keeping on a timely basis and maintains all documentation in an organized up-to-date manner. This includes but is not limited to behavior logs, training logs, ED Observations, incident reports, medication logs, allergy binders, CSRs, etc.
    • Knows the evacuation procedures and has emergency contacts/numbers updated at all times.

    General

    • Ensures that the school complies with all federal, state, and local regulations
    • Supports the director in implementing health and safety standards; and ensures appropriate supervision of children and safe transportation practices are utilized daily
    • Steps into the Director’s role as required
    • May need to transport children to and from school and field trip venue. (14 passenger bus)
    • Ensure hourly ratio checks and facility checks are conducted regularly.
    • Ensure the center is QA ready at all times.
    • Maybe required to come in early or stay late as per center’s needs.

    Customer Service

    • Understands and adheres to the Ivy Kids’ Parent Handbook
    • Develops and actively maintains positive communication with parents
    • Recognizes parent concerns regarding their child’s development and progress. Evaluate course of action and respond appropriately to the needs of the parents. Communicates parent concerns to the director and the executive director. Takes corrective actions (mentoring and coaching) with teachers as required.
    • Supports the director in ensuring de-enrolled children are kept at a minimum. Helps the director in determine reasons for de-enrolled and take corrective actions as needed.
    • Ensures that the center is responding and following up on enrollment inquiries. As delegated by the center, the Education Director gives prospective customers tours of the program and detailed information about the program’s educational philosophy and classroom teachers.

    Financial Responsibility

    • Supports the center director when it comes to center staffing. Ensures that all labor budgets and supply budgets are met.
    • Maintains appropriate receipts for all credit card transactions.
    • Plans staff training appropriately (minimize overtime).
    • Creates and purchases items from the monthly supply lists for all classrooms and ensures the teachers have the appropriate resources needed for curriculum delivery.

    Human Resources

    • Assists the center director in recruiting, selecting, and properly training qualified staff. Develops staff through program growth and guidance plans. Maintains a professional working relationship with program staff.
    • Anticipates staffing needs and communicates needs to the director/executive director
    • Mentors staff on classroom environments, child development, student assessment, and conscious discipline.
    • Supports the center director in maintaining high staff morale. Provides the center director with ideas on staff celebrations
    • Encourages staff members to get their CDA’s
    • Assists the center director in evaluating staff yearly with a written performance review, and at other times as needed; recommends merit raises for staff within program guidelines.

    Physical Facility

    • Supports the center director in ensuring the building and playgrounds are well maintained.

    Marketing

    • Follows the annual marketing plan and participates in community marketing programs and helps execute center-based events.
    • Creates and maintains a social media calendar and posts center events, classroom activities, field trips, marketing videos, etc. on social media regularly.
    • Maybe required to work after hours or weekends for center events, trainings, etc.

    Qualifications:

    • The Director of Education must meet or exceed state licensing requirements of age, education, and experience. A Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Early childhood education is preferred.
    • The Director of Education must be willing to drive the company vehicles if required
    • The Director of Education must be willing to take the Director’s training and quality as a licensed director
    • The Director of Education must maintain at least 30 hours of training each year
    • Must be able to repeatedly bend, stoop and run; must repeatedly lift and carry children up to 50 pounds depending on the age and weight of the child.
    • Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with children and parents.
