Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) is seeking a talented part-time Work Based Learning Coordinator in Winona, MN.

Position:
This position coordinates work-based educational opportunities for special education high school students within our River Valley Academy, HVED's Area Learning Center (ALC). The Work Based Learning Coordinator partners with community businesses to give special education high school students an opportunity find career paths in the job market and/or college.

Qualifications:

• Licensure as a Special Education Teacher required
• Licensure in Work Based Learning required
• Experience working with transition age student preferred
• Experience arranging community vocational opportunities preferred
• Must be able to work in team decision-making situations
• Must possess strong written and verbal communcation and consulting skills
• Ability to use technology as a management and instruction tool
• Valid driver's license

Competencies:

• Must be able to work in team decision-making situations

• Ability to coach students in a work-based learning environment
• Ability to develop relationships with community partnerships
• Ability to use technology as a management and instruction tool

Responsibilities (include but not limited to): **

• Instructs students and develops work experiences for students with disabilities
• Present competencies as directed by Minnesota Department of Education
• Maintains existing vocational opportunities while developing new community partnerships
• Promotes student learning in self-awareness/advocacy, disability awareness, and transition services
• Act as an essential team member of the transitions program by participating in team meetings, IEP meetings and overall positive team culture
• Work with other staff members in implementing accommodations and modifications
• Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations
• All other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:
Works in standard office and school building environments.

Use of standard office equipment such as computer/laptop, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel:
Minimal travel required.

Hiawatha Valley Education District provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 3 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. Hiawatha Valley Education District also has a Setting IV Behavior Program, located in Kellogg, MN that provides programming for grades K-12 students with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. Hiawatha Valley Education District provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder located in Hokah, MN. HVED offers an Alternative Learning Center housed in MN College SE located in Winona, MN.
