Distance Learning and Education Director jobs in Tucson, AZ

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate, design, and administer web streaming and recording of all distance learning courses and special College events including but not limited to weekly Colloquium, short courses, and Academic Program events using Zoom, Panopto, MS Windows, multiple cameras and audio equipment. Collaborate with Optical Sciences faculty to assess and implement technology for online course delivery and develop instructional materials and activities that integrate technology tools to ensure alignment with instructional goals, best practices, and course learning outcomes.
• Facilitate the scheduling, preparation, recording, course data tracking, and quality assurance of online course content and resources. Assist with program assessment activities for M.S. distance learning  program. Coordinate pre-recordings, recitations, makeup of recorded distance classes with professors.  Provide training and support to Optical Sciences faculty and students on accessing distance courses via D2L, Panopto, and Optical Sciences course websites. 
• Manage recording equipment, troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions.  Maintain classrooms 305 & 307 and future building facilities. Evaluate distance course technology and equipment in classrooms 305 and 307 for maintenance and repair needs, including making recommendations for alternative products or technologies. Provide technical support to faculty, staff and students. Collaborate with faculty and College Information Technology staff to support new technology integration initiatives.
• Coordination of recording activities will extend to new building facilities.  Expected supervision of future part-time staff member to assist with recording. Interview, hire, train, mentor and supervise distance learning staff and student employees for recording of courses.
• Participate in Academic Programs events and support Academic Programs Office as needed, including collaboration with College and university staff on special programs or events and outreach activities.  Provide technological options to Optical Sciences instructors and special event coordinators to assist in optimal course and program delivery.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to use audio/visual equipment, including recording equipment.
• Knowledge of basic supervisory practices and principles.
• Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
• Demonstrated knowledge of communications platforms including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, MS Windows, Panopto, etc.
• Knowledge of UA systems including UAccess and D2L is a plus but not required.
