Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary:

    Vallen's Area Sales Manager is a staff management position responsible for coaching and directing the work of Account Specialists who are responsible for selling the organization's products and/or services. They establish individual sales goals and tracks performance against expectations. They formulate, and/or assist with formulating targeted sales strategies and provide guidance to the sales team to qualify and generate sales leads. They review and analyze customer data within their assigned territory to assess profitability and relationship quality.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Reports to the Regional Sales Manager.
    • Leads a team of assigned Account Specialists.
    • Supervise and develop Account Specialists who sell the organization's products and/or services. Staff management responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, selecting, hiring, coaching, counseling, and disciplining associates, in collaboration with the Regional Sales Manager, while enforcing company policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
    • Forecast, develop, monitor, and revise sales business plans to penetrate assigned territories and meet financial goals and objectives.
    • Manage sales expense forecasts and plans.
    • Ensure the proper usage of Sales & Sales Management Tools such as, but not limited to, Proton, Smartsheet, VPP, EB Dashboard.
    • Oversee and provide direction for pricing strategy; develop pricing guidelines consistent with opportunities; approve product/service pricing while ensuring effective communication and change management.
    • Manage compliance with contractual agreements and oversee contract renewals within assigned territory.
    • Produce and monitor various forms of territory, customer, and associate performance reports from which decisions are made.
    • Assist with billing and collections as required.
    • Assist with successful area and/or market sales planning.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Job Qualifications:

    High school or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in a related business, sales or marketing field preferred. 5 years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience should include:

    • Successful full life-cycle sales experience.
    • Staff management or the demonstration of the ability to lead and mentor others.
    • Demonstration of industry, company product and/or service offerings.
    • Ability to read and interpret various documents, including but not limited to contracts or other forms of customer agreements, safety and operational manuals, product specifications, etc.
    • Solid knowledge of business financials and how to deliver profitable business.
    • Working knowledge of MS-Office products.
    • Working knowledge of company applications preferred.

      • This is a 'Virtual" based position working from a suitable home office when not traveling.
      • Long periods of time working on a computer and performing repetitive key-boarding activities
      • May be required to handle hazardous materials and wear various forms of protective equipment (shoes, gloves, protective eyewear, etc.).
      • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand and may include little to no advanced notice.
      • Must have the ability to work physical inventory.
      • May be required to work in extreme hot, cold, or dusty environments.
      • While performing the duties of this job, associates are regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and climb.
      • May be required to lift up to 100 lbs with assistance.
      • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
      • Must have the ability to pass written and driving tests.
