Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     About the position:
    The Warehouse Distribution Center Associate will be responsible for end-to-end functional operations in the Stamford Distribution Center. As a member of the Stamford DC team, the associate will be responsible for pharmaceutical & medical supply warehouse center receiving, storage, picking, staging and shipping of all scheduled drugs up to Class II controlled substances, Over the Counter medicines, and all humanitarian aid related supplies.

    Key Outcomes:
    In the first 90 days, the Warehouse Distribution Center Associate will:

    • Learn and live the Americares values.
    • Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings.
    • Consistently perform data entry of information into inventory management database using bar code scanners and computer workstations.
    • Acquire and maintain license for sit-down forklift.
    • Learn to operate typical warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, rolling bins, stretch wrap machines, pallet scales, etc.
    • Offload trailers and stage appropriately for product intake processes.
    • Conduct frontline checks and reporting to management on product quality and appropriateness, screening all stock for expiration, tampering, damage, etc.
    • Follow all OSHA regulations and Americares DC policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Assist in the daily housekeeping and maintenance of the warehouse such as sweeping, mopping and other general warehouse maintenance.


    In the first 6 months, the Warehouse Distribution Center Associate will:

    • Acquire and maintain licenses for Narrow-Aisle Reach Trucks and Man-up Order Pickers.
    • Build, stage, and load out outbound skids/orders as needed/directed to support successful order fulfillment via LTL, Air, FT and Sea Containers.
    • Support the Small Package divisions of US-Access and Medical Outreach through picking and processing high number volume of orders to be shipped via FedEx Ground, UPS and DHL.
    • Process paper pick lists with a scan gun by physically pulling materials; packing boxes, wrapping skids and placing completed orders in staging area.
    • Fill out and complete all shipping documents necessary for the various types of shipments shipped through the Stamford DC.


    In the first year, the Warehouse Distribution Center Associate will:
    • Continue to hone/sharpen skills in both the receiving and shipping sides of the business.
    • Be able to work autonomously in all aspects of the business.
    • Maintain all licenses for the various heavy equipment used daily.
    • Take and pass Dangerous Goods Training.
    • Adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures of the Global Operations Department with special focus on the Stamford Distribution Center SOPs.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Data entry of information into inventory management database efficiently and accurately.
    • Load/Unload donations, purchases and shipments using various warehouse machinery and equipment.
    • Proficiency with the HELM Inventory Management System.
    • Acquire and maintain licenses for Sit-Down Forklifts, Narrow-Aisle Reach Trucks and Man-up Order Pickers.
    • Ensure data integrity/uniformity throughout all entry and outbound processes.
    • Interface with other departments via Teams, Zoom, and email on Inbound/Outbound paperwork, issues, and errors.


    These competencies are
    required for the role:

    • Ability to lift 60-80 pounds
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Experience in organizing and tracking warehouse inventory
    • Experience with data entry in various software systems


    • Ability to learn new software systems
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Experience working collaboratively with a team to meet established goals

    US work authorization is required for this role.

    These competencies would be great to have, but are not
    required:

    • Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.
    • OSHA Forklift certification and previous experience operating a forklift
    • Previous experience leading teams within a warehouse or similar work environment
