Distribution Center Manager manages the overall planning, organizing, and operations of a distribution center. Oversees all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packaging, shipping, and receiving. Being a Distribution Center Manager monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels to fulfill all orders. Balances workloads as needed to achieve production and delivery goals for each shift. Additionally, Distribution Center Manager utilizes software, data, and analytics to optimize operations, track production metrics, and anticipate and resolve problems. Provides the necessary equipment, tools, and training to staff to ensure safe, secure, and efficient operations. Complies with all OSHA and other regulations, policies, safety procedures, and documentation requirements. May evaluate and select transportation or freight services, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Center Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Center Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are seeking a Distribution Engineering Manager to manage and oversee a team responsible for developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards.

    Candidates must be located in Massachusetts, Michigan, New York or other neighboring /adjacent Northeastern state in order to be considered. This role is hybrid in nature, with some time spent working alongside internal teams, either at our Walled Lake, Michigan office, or Framingham, Massachusetts office. Some occasional local or regional travel is anticipated, including on-site or in-office meetings with Leidos' customers.

    Your team will utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, Work Management Systems (WMS), and other client systems to develop work packages. You will also have oversight of assignments such as preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, developing BOM, estimating costs, and customer advocacy such as acquiring easements or calculating a customer Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIAC).

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams.
    • Function as client point of contact and liaison on project-related issues. 
    • Collaborate with other design managers on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control
    • Oversee and manage existing capital, reliability, and customer project work for clients: Customer project work includes reconductors, voltage conversions, load swaps, circuit rebuilds, DOT relocations, DG integrations, and new, large customer development feeds (OH & UG).
    • Support business development, proposal creation, and growth opportunities, including client engagement activities
    • Facilitate client & team collaboration and communication; managing resource loading based on clients demands.
    • Track scope, schedule, and budget for projects in flight
    • Oversee QA/QC for your design team
    • Monitor team performance metrics
    • Track and report financial metrics
    • Strategize and implement organizational structures to enable future growth

    What Sets You Apart (Required Qualifications):

    • BS in an Engineering Discipline (EE preferred) is required and a 5 years of prior relevant experience either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing electric distribution design engineering; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree
    • Proficient knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and comprehension of client construction standards.
    • Successful project management experience (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, closeout).
    • Previous Experience leading engineering personnel
    • Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills.
    • Collaborative and inclusive of individuals of diverse backgrounds and geographic locations.
    • Ability to work with limited supervision and provide leadership to other team members; Ability to work effectively in teams.
    • Ability to provide your own reliable transportation, as some local travel and in-office work are anticipated

    You Might Also Have:

    • Experience with designing secondary networks.
    • Experience with software such as PoleForeman, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer, GE Smallworld, Maximo, or similar products.
    • Experience with complex projects in distribution design: using medium voltage switchgear, voltage conversion projects, distribution automation projects.
    • Experience with development of civil & electrical packages associated with complex cable/conduit in dense urban environments.
    • PMP certification and/or PE license

    Pay Range:

    Pay Range $66,300.00 - $119,850.00
