POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining efficient water service to customers by assisting with supervision of field crews engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of the water distribution system. Also assists with supervision of meter readings and field service functions. Reports to Director of Public Works.

This position requires regularly being on-call for working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and to respond to emergency events. Must be available to cover for other supervisors as needed, which includes snow removal throughout the City, house demolitions, etc. Must be readily available to respond to emergency events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school and/or two (2) years related experience; or high school diploma or GED equivalent plus four (4) years related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of techniques, equipment, and materials used in the installation, maintenance of water mains, meters, valves, pumps, motors, hydrants, and services; knowledge of equipment, tools, and materials used in water system activities and services; knowledge of meter reading practices and equipment; and knowledge of safety rules and regulations, as well as federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations.
Excellent skill in public, employee and labor relations and in maintaining effective relationships; skill in researching, compiling and analyzing information; preparing reports and multitasking; using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to use Arc GIS reader.
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of the materials and situations encountered on the job; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; read, analyze and interpret documents such as policies, procedures, regulations, laws and labor agreements; calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, picture and schedule form.
