Distribution Director jobs in New London, CT
Distribution Director manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Communicates and monitors production measurement metrics and sets performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines. Being a Distribution Director utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies. Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational issues. Additionally, Distribution Director ensures all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Distribution Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Distribution Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. This unique distribution specialist position requires a person with a wide variety of talents including the ability to multi-task between shipping, receiving, and load building daily. Driving a van or small truck is required occasionally. The ideal candidate will be hardworking, reliable, talented, accurate, safety conscious and experienced at achieving customer satisfaction:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Provides a high level of customer service
- Receives incoming freight (forklift experience required)
- Prepares customer loads for packaging, pick-up and shipments
- Makes safe lumber deliveries to customer’s homes and job sites with a van or small truck as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 5 years forklift experience
- Safety oriented
- Ability to lift lumber repetitively
- High attention to detail
- Extremely accurate
- Thrives in a fast-paced contractor / end user sales environment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to drive a van or truck as needed
- Safe driving record
- Team oriented / Team player
- Strong customer service orientation

- Dependable
- Self motivated
