Bookkeeper Job Description
The bookkeeper is responsible for both accounts payable and receivable along with all bank and credit card account management and reconciliation tasks. To do well in this role, you should have previous experience as a bookkeeper and have used accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks. Experience with Microsoft GP is a plus.
Bookkeeper Responsibilities:
Recording day-to-day financial transactions ensuring proper posting to the subledgers and the general ledger. These include, but are not limited to, invoicing, follow-up on accounts receivable, maintaining accounts payable and ensuring timely payments.
Reconciling bank checking and credit card accounts monthly.
Monitoring financial transactions and reports.
Ability to interact with various departments and external company contacts with professionalism while maintaining confidentiality. This includes written and verbal contact.
Understanding ledgers.
Bookkeeper Requirements:
Associate's degree in accounting or business administration. Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles.
High school diploma with at least five years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within a B2B product reseller environment.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness of work.
Experience with accounting software such as Xero or Quickbooks. Experience with Microsoft GP (Great Plains) is a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be flexible and be able to multi-task.
