Distribution Manager manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Communicates and monitors production measurement metrics and sets performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines. Being a Distribution Manager utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies. Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational issues. Additionally, Distribution Manager ensures all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • We are currently looking for a Branch Manager at our Birmingham, AL location. We are a wholesale distributor of lumber, plywood and building products. The successful candidate should have experience in managing sales and marketing. Experience in wood and building products a plus. This position manages a workforce of approximately 10 employees, $1.5 million in inventory and a fleet of 2-3 trucks.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

    • Oversee the daily operations of the branch. Establish consistent processes, standards, and expectations for the branch to ensure ongoing performance within company, regulatory, and legal requirements.
    • Manage and monitor the financial performance and overall profitability of the branch.
    • Ensure that inventory is received, handled, stored and delivered as to minimize damage or any other loss.
    • Follow up on quality or specification issues brought by employees or customers.
    • Develop strategic and tactical plan to grow the branch’s revenues and profit.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow sales by developing new customers, and/or broadening product line penetration to existing customers.
    • Manage the human resources activities of the branch within the company policies and guidelines.
    • Consistently reinforce a commitment to customer-focus toward both internal and external customers.
    • Ensure continuous training and coaching for all branch personnel to maintain a productive and safe working environment.
    • Display the highest level of ethical behavior and respect for others.

    Requirements Include:

    • College degree in a business related field or equivalent experience;
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills;
    • P&L experience with aspect to managing sales and operations;
    • Self-motivated/driven individual that has a can-do attitude to handle any customer or employee situation that may arise[b1] ;
    • Sales-driven, compelling manager who can seize new business and have the skills and leadership to maintain current business;
    • A minimum of 7 years of operations or sales experience;
    • A minimum of 3 years experience in a management capacity;
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to include the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers;
    • Computer (Excel, Word, & Outlook) and IT system literate.

    Hood offers a competitive salary and a generous benefit package (medical, dental, vision, cancer, life, 401K, LTD, FSA, EAP, PTO, and holidays) available first of the month following completion of one month of continuous full-time employment. Medical Insurance single coverage ONLY $65.00/month, each dependent ONLY an additional $95.33/month.
