Distribution Manager manages and deploys the operational strategy, business processes, and systems for overall distribution operations, including order fulfillment, warehousing, inventory management, and transportation. Communicates and monitors production measurement metrics and sets performance targets at the team and individual level for all distribution-related functions that align with company objectives and are within regulatory guidelines. Being a Distribution Manager utilizes data-driven analytical tools and systems to continuously monitor operations, identify inefficiencies, and develop optimization strategies. Troubleshoots and resolves escalated operational issues. Additionally, Distribution Manager ensures all operations adhere to industry safety protocols and comply with OSHA, DOT, or other governmental regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Distribution Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Distribution Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Assist in all areas of operation of the Distribution Center (DC) and distribute newspapers to independent contract carriers and bundle haulers. This includes all print products and any ancillary products, such as USA Today.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   Assist the Operations Manager or Distribution Manager with all areas of DC operations. Assist in distributing bundles, other products, and carrier supplies at DC. Transport and unload papers & products as needed. Operation of DC in the absence of other staff. Delivery of products/supplies to other facilities as needed. Clean and maintain DC. Other Duties as assigned. Available as needed for early mornings every day of the week. Delivers foot, motor, or single copy routes as assigned. Knowledge of market area. Work well with other personnel and independent contractors. Demonstrates a passion for providing quality customer service. Complete delivery before the deadline when able. Placing products in a convenient location. Protecting product from the elements. Ensure all interactions with subscribers are positive.
