Job Description
John Crane is currently hiring a District Sales Manager to cover several states to include New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virgina, Ohio, and parts of West Virgina. This individual will be tasked with targeting potential account for market share and revenue growth. They will generate and maintain critical corporate level relationships with existing and potential customers in the Refining, Chemical, and Power Generation markets, make technical presentations, coordinate with inside sales team, Engineering, and Operations to deliver a world class service to our clients. Best states for this individual to reside in is New Jersey or Pennsylvania.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide information about assigned district for the preparation of the Sales & Service North America business plan and implement actions that will achieve annual year over year growth of the district’s business as measured by revenue, market share and profit.
- Direct and manage team of Sales professionals to grow revenue by securing new business in new markets and expanding business with existing clients.
- Create an organizational culture and work environment that attracts, retains and motivates a skilled work force. Ensure Service Centers are properly staffed, and the staff is trained and their performance is evaluated, with support from Operations.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with the decision makers at key accounts.
- Report monthly results and forecasts to Regional Director, explain variances, and plans to grow positive variances and to reduce and eliminate negative variances. Report assessment of business risks and plans to mitigate risks.
- Ensure relationships with customers and channel partners are managed and the company is professionally represented. Personally call on key accounts to maintain and secure long term business relationships as required.
- Discusses with customer future requirements and assists in solving problems associated with products and supplies and the application of these products.
- Directly responsible for making available and employing all available resources to existing and potential customers to insure superior level of service.
- Directly responsible for growth, revenue and margin performance consistent with corporate goals and objectives.
- Monitors and controls expenses of the district and keeps within levels of approved budgets. Audits expense reports of all district personnel.
- Maintains and is responsible for proper inventory control by considering sales requirements, customer needs and budget level allowances.
- Ensure the protection of company intellectual property and all other assets.
- Ensure compliance with the Company code of Ethics and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures for ethics and corporate governance, and all national and international laws and regulations.
- Maintain monthly metrics that monitor the key elements of the business.
- Communicate activity, win/loss quotes and other significant events to management.
- Responsible for being aware of competitor activities, strengths and weaknesses.
- Responsible for conducting presentations to existing and potential customers, as well as, corporate management on performance, strategic market positioning, competitive bid opportunities or product/service resources.
- Directly responsible for territories performance to expense budget guidelines approved by corporate.
- Ensure promotional/educational/and technical materials are current for all markets.
- Ensure the company is represented in various industry forums, associations and trade shows which in turn will generate customer awareness.
- Additional duties as assigned.

The Individual
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably a BSME
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in sales, design or service with technical components used in the Oil and Gas, Petro-Chemical or Power Generations industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills required to manage multiple tasks.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
- Takes initiative to drive to sales targets, self-starter and the ability to work independently.
- Prefer experience in rotating equipment industry
- Prefer minimum 3 years’ experience in an environment that demands accuracy, thoroughness, and analytical reasoning.
- The position will require upto 50% travel
