SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Perform duties related to receiving and dispatching cargo from the CIP yard in an efficient and timely manner.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ DUTIES:

• Prepare equipment interchange and check bookings.
• Enter container location, container damage, and booking information in NAVIS N4, Port’s terminal operating system.
• Perform yard checks and inventories.
• Communicate with customers and trucking companies concerning issues pertaining to containers.
• Perform container and chassis inspections, noting physical condition on TIR.
• Assist with Queen City Express rail service daily operations.
• Generate monthly and weekly reports as required.
• Overtime, holidays, and weekend work is required as volume dictates.
• All other duties as assigned by management.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of experience in the transportation and warehousing industry is preferred.
• Must be able to read and identify containers.
• Excellent customer service and basic computer skills required. Knowledge of MS Word & Excel is a plus.
• The ability and/or willingness to operate heavy equipment is preferred.
• Good communication skills, dependability, and punctuality are a must.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and meet TWIC security requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Much of the time will be spent in normal office conditions in a climate-controlled environment. Will be required to walk between the office and interchange shed to serve customers and may be exposed to hot and cold seasonal weather, dirt, dust, grease, fumes, and oil. Must be able to follow all safety rules and requirements.
