Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining medical record integrity through scanning and retrieval of confidential patient medical records. Scans paper-based medical records for electronic medical records (EMR) conversion and archiving of historical records. Serves as back-up for chart deficiencies and analysis. Processes and maintains a complete and accurate electronic medical record as required by departmental and hospital policies as well as by Medical Staff rules and regulations, Title 22, Conditions of Participation and other regulatory agencies. Record processing and maintenance include the collection of discharged records, prepping, scanning, verifying and indexing the images, analysis of records, record retention and storage processes and other duties as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Medical Terminology and Basic Computer knowledge preferred.
Two years in a medical records setting preferred. Must have knowledge and expertise in medical record principles and hospital systems and be familiar with documentation requirements. Must be detailed oriented and work independently prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent customer service skills required.
