    The Commercial Documentation Specialist and Closer is responsible for performing loan transaction analysis and coordinating closing actions for commercial documentation as well as issuing a clear to close to authorize loan closings.

    Independently interprets internal credit approvals, outside counsel documents, and other lender loan documents to perform closing tasks.

    Follows up with internal and external stakeholders for collection of pre and post-closing documentary requirements. Interacts with and supports internal and external customers to ensure high satisfaction level.

    This position requires a comprehensive understanding of loan documents for commercial transactions, regulatory requirements, credit policy, collateral, and insurance.

    THIS WILL BE A HYBRID POSITION, 2 DAYS IN OFFICE, 3 DAYS WFH. SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

    Manages the documentation pipeline, determines the complexity of loan requests, and assigns the appropriate commercial processor.

    Requires a thorough understanding of loan documents, as well as documentation language, applicable laws, and compliance to independently select and prepare loan documents as required on commercial loan requests to protect the credit union's security interest and enforceability.

    Provides expertise in commercial documentation knowledge to mentor, support, and train commercial documentation processors.

    Works in conjunction with Commercial Lending Operations Manager to influence procedures, job standards, and specific commercial documentation procedures and policies within the commercial documentation area.

    Position requires significant personal contact with members, external vendors, attorneys, title agents, and insurance providers requiring a high degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy, and tact in communication.

    Obtains and reviews due diligence such as appraisals, UCC searches, title commitments, flood determinations, insurance, surveys, environmental reports, and other pre-closing items, and coordinates review with respective Business Loan Advisor, legal counsel, and title company, as required.

    Reviews all closing statements, ensuring all fees are accurate with pre-closing items internally tracked and submitted for remittance.

    Generates, reviews, analyzes, and validates loan documentation for commercial loans to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with credit approval, internal policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.

    Responsible for the review and approval of required third party reports and all due diligence associated with the loan closing in accordance with industry standards and lender guidelines.

    Communicate any potential risk and or issues that may arise during the closing process to management.Responsible to perform a second review of all closing packages and makes decision to issue a Clear to Close authorizing loan closings.

    Monitor and report on trends in loan documentation errors and provides recommendations for process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.

    Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of loan products, terms, and documentation requirements.Utilize Documentation Checklist to accurately track the compiling of necessary documentation, itemize / track closings documents and establish / maintain CIP for borrowers.

    Assist in accurately updating Loans Pending Closing pipeline to track the closings of pending loans and issues arising with the documentation that may impact the scheduled closing and present weekly report to management, effectively participating in weekly staff and individual meetings as required.

    Effectively communicate with Business Loan Advisors or other personnel for timely delivery of completed closing packages and specific closing instructions.

    Expected to work independently with consultative direction from supervisor and be involved in the identification and resolution of problems and errors of others with input from immediate supervisor.

    Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, initiate action, adapt to change, make difficult business decisions while evaluating the risk to the credit union and accepting challenging assignments.

    Keep informed of credit union policies and procedures, current accounting and auditing developments, and changes to local, state, and federal laws, as applicable.

    Perform other duties as assigned by direct manager in an orderly and proficient manner.Work with internal departments during Credit Risk Reviews and Internal Audits regarding loan document questions and exceptions.

    Maintain a complete understanding of state and federals laws and regulations related to regulatory compliance and internal policies.

    Read all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.Perform other duties as required or assigned.

    Ability to work on multiple projects with the flexibility for changing priorities.Regular and reliable attendance is required.

    Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.Ability to operate or have ability to be trained to operate related office equipment, including calculator, check and receipt printers, computer terminal (PC), scanner, telephone and multifunction copier.

    Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting desired.
