Documentation Specialist jobs in Akron, OH

Completes concurrent and/or retrospective documentation reviews of the medical record to determine the clinical validation of the documented diagnoses and/or procedures. Supports Documentation Improvement Task Force efforts to educate and reinforce the use of CDI Guides/Evidence Based Diagnostic Criteria for chart integrity and accurate reimbursement. Ensures physician awareness of documentation guidelines in relation to coding guidelines that support appropriate reimbursement.

Education and Training
 

Required:
 

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• RHIA, RHIT, CCDS, CCS, or CPCH, or RN Certification

Preferred:

• Associate in Health Information Management
• Bachelors in Health Information Management
• Graduate of an accreditted school of nursing with a current license to practice in the State of Ohio or current multi state RN Licensure that is recognized by Ohio

Experience

• Two (2) years professional nursing experience which should include a combination of medical, specialty and/or surgical care in an acute care setting or three (3) years of inpatient coding experience in an acute care facility.
• Proven CDI/DRG ability through work sample.

• Full-time = 32 hours per week
• Hybrid - Remote and onsite
