STATEMENT OF THE JOB
A Clinical Documentation Specialist works to ensure the accuracy of clinical data for the purpose of billing and rendering payment for services. The Clinical Documentation Specialist will review clinical documentation, billing information, clients’ records, and other related documents and will verify all documentation has been completed and approved for processing claims and payroll sheets. Their duties include ensuring that the records and reports accurately reflect a client’s diagnosis and the treatment that they receive. The responsibilities of a Clinical Documentation Specialist also include communicating with clinicians and support department staff to verify information. In addition, they will perform data entry tasks with the updated information.
In this role, the Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Facilitates modifications to clinical documentation through extensive interaction with the clinicians. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of clinical information used for measuring and reporting outcomes. Participates in training to clinicians and provide ongoing support. Ensures that documentation practices and processes comply with applicable regulatory guidelines and requirements. Participate in special projects when necessary.
