    Job Responsibilities

    The RN Study Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and providing nursing care, including direct patient care and research participant/family education in clinical and research settings, with a focus on patients with non-alcoholic liver disease (NAFLD) in the Gastroenterology division. The RN manages all phases of the research process, such as patient screening, recruitment, retention, and maintaining regulatory documents. They deliver basic nursing practice to research participants in the NAFLD Unit and ensure the needs of both the research participant and their family are met. The RN adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Standards of Care and Professional Performance and advocates for human subject rights.

    This role involves self-directed work with guidance from the Program Manager, staff physicians, and/or principal investigators. The RN contributes to designing and monitoring protocols, assists with grant applications and publications, and participates in staff education related to the study. They assess research participants, investigate abnormal events and laboratory results, and collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with regulatory laws and institutional guidelines for data collection, storage, and participant medical procedures.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program or extensive knowledge of research study design and development. Certification from a recognized certifying body is preferred. They should have a minimum of two years of prior RN experience in ambulatory and/or acute care settings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills, are essential. Critical thinking abilities and the willingness to learn data management, statistical methods, and computer-related systems are required. Adaptability to unpredictable situations in clinical and research settings is necessary.

    Licensure/Certification Requirements: Current Minnesota RN license or license deemed acceptable by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) competency. Any additional specialty certification or training as required.

    $33.07 - $41.34 per hour; Consideration will be given to education, experience, and tenure along with internal equity when extending job offers.
