With this growth, we are looking to create a new position within our organization to be the primary drafting person for a variety of drawing types and uses.

Job Description

This position will provide drafting support to create shop drawings to be used both internally and externally. The type of projects include; civil engineering shop drawings for geofoam placement under roads, landscapes and other civil structures; low slope roofing insulation layouts, packaging design, shop drawings for custom 2D and 3D machined architectural shapes as well as mechanical design for in-house built equipment. This position will also be responsible for providing sales and production staff with accurate material takeoffs and required shop or fabrication drawings. This position may also be required to coordinate between sales, administration, and customers.

This position will report directly to the Lead Draftsman.

Duties and responsibilities

• General Drafting
• Create 2D CAD drawings of alignment and placement of product for use by customers and third parties based upon construction documents, specifications, as-built drawings, and customer input. Drawings may include sectional views, detail views etc.
• Create a Bill of Materials based upon the developed shop drawings
• Create 2D multi-view mechanical drawings for customer use, and shop fabrication
• Create 3D models of packaging parts or other components
• Estimating
• Provide material takeoff estimates for Insulated Concrete Forms, Geofoam, and Tapered Roof Systems
• And other reasonable duties

Qualification

• Associate degree in related field and 2 years related work experience or 5 years work experience in a related field
• Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, and structural plans and other construction documents
• Proficient with AutoCAD
• Proficient in developing 3D models with AutoCAD
• Proficient with MS word, excel, outlook
• Strong communications Skills
• A “Can Do” Attitude
• On-the job training will be provided
