    Duties include but may not be limited to:

    • Prepares drawings for outpatient clinics (CBOCs) level projects.
    • Prepares Engineering drawings, layouts, models, and specifications for competitively bid or in-house construction and maintenance repair work at this VA Medical Center.
    • Prepares Engineering drawings, layouts, models, and specifications as directed by their supervisor.
    • Coordinates all projects with using service, from conception to completion.
    • Utilize and maintain project management software for design and construction such as AutoDesk Build.
    • Uploads and tracks project specific documents daily through completion of the project.
    • Maintains record drawings of all Medical Center an CBOC Station structures and grounds utilizing Computer Based Drafting Software including AutoCAD.
    • Makes necessary changes to keep drawings current as remodeling occurs.
    • Assists with preparation of medical center safety and fire protection plans.
    • Provides Drafting Support through the entire design and construction project from the kickoff design meeting and development to construction closeout and final commissioning.
    • Performs other duties assigned.
    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

    Qualifications

    To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must meet one of the following:

    Experience: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-10) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of an Engineering Technician. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes; Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. At this grade level, experience should include planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring implementation and installation phases on construction projects; conducting price negotiations pertaining to construction contracts; and reading and interpreting engineering and architectural drawing, specifications and technical data. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. ~OR~
    Education: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education that is directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology.
