Drafting Supervisor jobs in North Dakota
Drafting Supervisor supervises a team within an organization's computer-aided design (CAD) department. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of drafters and other employees working on design projects. Being a Drafting Supervisor ensures deadlines, goals, and production standards for the department are met. Analyzes data and reviews drawings/plans to ensure quality of work and project feasibility. Additionally, Drafting Supervisor reviews project results and makes recommendations for improvement. Provides CAD technical support and develops solutions. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Drafting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Drafting Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes. Local manufacturing company involved in steel fabrication seeks a full-time AutoCAD drafting technician.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Attention to detail a must. In-depth knowledge of design & detail for substation steel structures.
- Coordinate assigned projects through the entire detailing process.
- Work with and report to Senior Drafting support staff.
- AutoCAD software drafting and detailing; create detailed shop drawings(s) for customer approval and onsite shop use.
- Maintain computer and/or paper production records that properly and accurately track quality and hours performance on assigned jobs.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor relevant to position.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have prior job knowledge and experience as a detailer.
- Must be able to read and interpret customer blue prints, customer purchase orders and other documents necessary to perform the job.
- Experience with Fabtrol and AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office software preferred.
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of company production techniques as well as all relevant production and safety procedures and policies.
- Must have a working knowledge of related AISC Steel Manual, ASW D1.1
- The ideal candidate will have experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Create erection drawings, detail drawings & bill of materials for structural steel including:
- Electrical substation support steel
- Transmission line support steel
- Lattice structures
- Platforms, stairways, ladders & handrail.
